As I sat in the crowd of blankets and lawn chairs at Radicalis,Rick Warren was reminding our generation what the word “radical” means. Itmeans “to be rooted.” Radicalis brought me back to one of my favorite verses inEphesians 3, "I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, mayhave power, together with all the Lord's holy people, to grasp how wide andlong and high and deep is the love of Christ." I want to be rootedin Jesus' love. I want that for my generation and I want that for the peoplewho don't know Christ.
God gave me a love for New York City a long time ago, so whenCrave mentioned that they were teaming up with a daughter church in NYC toserve the weekend of September 16-19, I knew I had to go. I didn't havethe money, but God ended up providing a way to go to NYC last minute and beforeI knew it, I was on a plane! When most people think of missions trips, they immediately think of traveling overseas into an impoverished country. Iwent on a mission trip to NYC. We worked with Pastor Ryan Holladay atLower Manhattan Community Church and got the chance to connect with New Yorkersand understand their lives and needs. My team and I passed out flyers, interviewed people, and had authentic, refreshing conversations.?
God brought me to NYC for a short period of time to show me Icould live there for a long period of time. After working with the churchthis weekend, talking to New Yorkers, and understanding the subway maps, Irealized I have to live there. I can’t wait to go back for 3 months nextyear to have opportunities to befriend New Yorkers, hear their stories and sharethe heart of Jesus with them. God is doing work in that city and I wantto be a part of it.
Be a part of the Radicalis movement. God has planted passions inour hearts and if we pursue them, we can change the world. Let's live a radicallife being rooted in Christ.
